A Playlist to Drift Away

Ok.

This is one of those list posts…. 25 songs I cannot live without.

These are the ones I listen to over and over and never get tired of. These are the songs that play in the sharpest and most important moments of my life. There was a song I first heard in high school by Leonard Cohen — that has echoed in my head for decades. And as much as it helped me understand all kinds of difficult people and situations — it mostly helped me understand how different the world is from what I believed it was. I’ve never been certain whether the song has anything to do with the difficult world — or just the difficult me.

“Jesus was a sailor when he walked upon the water…. and when he knew for certain only drowning men could see him he said ‘all men will be sailors, then, until the sea shall free them.'”

Suzanne, L Cohen
